Myra Dellolio

Myra Ruth Dellolio was born on August 10, 1935 in Watha, North Carolina.  She passed away on November 27, 2022 in her residence, surrounded by her daughter, Regina (Gordon); her granddaughter, Abigail (Matt); her grandson, Ryan; and her friend of 61 years, Sherlene Cram.  Myra was 87 years old.

She was a member of Paul’s Union Church in La Marque.  She attended every Sunday.  She worked in the church nursery and was a member of the ladies Lydia Circle.  She attended and helped with all the church luncheons and any other function that someone needed help with.  She loved Jesus, her family, her friends and doing activities like kick boxing, aerobics, and cleaning.  Yes, cleaning! Myra always cleaned her walls with liquid Gold every year and she even recruited Regina’s friends to help with this yearly project.  If you know Myra, you are familiar with this routine she had and the “ clean smells” that always filled her home.  She wasn’t a cook and wasn’t afraid to tell people she didn’t like to cook.  She was a good cook, but would always tell people, “Tony is the cook, and I am the cleaner.”  She loved baking cookies, cakes, pies, and candy during the holiday season.  If you are here today, I’m sure at some point you have had her lemon, coconut, or pineapple cream pie.  Peanut butter fudge was her specialty candy for the holidays.

She enjoyed being a part of all her grandkid’s lives, Josh, Adam, Jack, Sunny, Abigail, and Ryan.  She attended numerous baseball, basketball, and football games to cheer them on.  She loved helping her daughter, Regina, take Abigail to dance and gymnastics and Ryan to karate, basketball, and baseball.  Anytime she was needed, she was there. Always.  She also loved her nieces and nephews and their spouses with all of her heart.  Her great grandkids were a part of her heart as well.  Her daughter- in -law, Gina Ploss, passed away two days before her. She always loved visiting with her and Ansel. For the last seven years Myra has lived with her daughter Regina who cared for her.  When Alzheimer’s stole Myra’s memory and way of life as she knew it, it was very difficult to see, but her daughter would tell people “Just because she doesn’t know what is going on, we do” Mom’s teach us from the day we are born, how to live, but we are never prepared to live in a world where our mom isn’t.  Thank you to the Lord for sending his son Jesus to die on the cross so we can have eternal life with him.  If we believe in HIM, we shall never die!!! We will be reunited with our loved ones in our forever home, Heaven.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
