Joseph "Jay" Moore, Jr.

Joseph "Jay" William Moore, Jr., 57, passed as a result of glioblastoma on March 27, 2023 at his home and surrounded by family.

Jay was born October 28, 1965, in North Little Rock, AR, the son of Joseph and Joyce Moore, and resided in Texas City since 1967. He was married to the love of his life, Kelli Culver Moore, and they had a precious daughter, Sydney Moore.

Jay was a graduate of Texas City High School - Class of 1985. He was a star athlete in high school in Football, Baseball, and Track. Jay played baseball at Lee College, Alvin College, and Sam Houston State. He retired from NRG Energy in 2022 after a 27-year career as a warehouseman and operator. Jay married the love of his life, Kelli Culver Moore, in 1997 and they had their only child, Sydney Magee Moore, in 2000. Jay loved coaching his daughter throughout her softball career as well as traveling across the country coaching her and her teammates. Jay enjoyed going to their lake house on Lake Limestone as often as possible enjoying the outdoors and boating.

Second only to the Lord, Jay loved his family and would do anything in the world to help and support them. Jay is survived by his wife, Kelli Culver Moore, of Texas City, TX; daughter, Sydney Magee Moore, of Texas City, TX; Sister, Cindy Villarreal of St. Louis, MO; Brothers, Gary (Lee) Moore of Fairview, TX and Michael Moore of Needville, TX; Mother-in-Law, Loretta Culver of Texas City, Grandmother-in-Law, Estelle Powell of Texas City, TX; Sister-in-Law, Sunnie (Randall) Culver Johnston of Texas City, TX; and, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Joyce Moore; and Grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Heintschel and Eddie and Bernice Moore, and Father-in-Law, Douglas Culver.

Jay was an amazing person that would give the shirt off his back to help others. He was loved by all that knew him because of his kindness and willingness to step up and help. Jay was loved dearly by his entire family, friends, and everyone that met him. He was man of great integrity and caring. Everything he did in life was focused on making life better for his family. He will be missed greatly and his family and friends know that he is with the Lord and he is watching over them until the day that they see him again.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expwy, Texas City. Service will follow at 6:00 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Graveside Service and Burial will be held at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, 7301 Memorial Drive, Hitchcock, TX, at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 31, 2023
