Donald Mike Cook, 78, of Texas City, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2020, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday, October 22, 2020, in the mausoleum at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas

Mike was born October 2, 1942 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Charles C and Ada E. Cook. He moved to Texas in the 1950’s, living in Amarillo, Hitchcock, Houston, Dallas and lastly La Marque, Texas. He made his living in the newspaper business, then moved on to building maintenance until retirement.   Mike had many interests. One he enjoyed most was watching sports. He was an avid fan of college football, and basketball, as well as, the NFL, MLB, and NASCAR. He was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Yankees. He loved shows that focused on the building of cars and trucks. Mike enjoyed nature. He loved working outside in the yard and enjoying the shade in a lawn chair.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents; brother Tommy Cook and daughter Lauren Amanda Cook.

Survivors include his son Donald Mike Cook II and wife Lisa of Texas City; grandchildren Ricky Platt of Dayton, Texas, Matthew Charles Cook and wife Kimberly of Batson ,Texas, Kelcey Nicole Burnett and husband Jacob of Dayton, Texas and 2 bonus grandchildren, Ashley Michelle Hodges and Joshua Arron Hodges of Baytown, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
