Alfred “Al” William Baker, 85 of San Leon, Texas passed away on Dec.27, 2022. He was born on Oct.27, 1937 to Elburn and Jennie Baker. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Sue “Susie” Baker, their son and daughter, Brian William Baker and wife Debbie, Debra Feazell and husband William. He is also survived by his sisters; Frankie Lindsey and Delores Schrage and husband John, grandchildren; Crystal Valdez and husband Joe, Dalton Feazell, Dallas Feazell, Gabrielle Fox and Patrick Daly; great grandchildren; Brianna Jones, Jordan Linton, Reyna Montalvo, Natalie Buell, Audrey Taylor, Harley Buell, Shane Daly and Lexi Daly. We expect a great great grandchild any day now.
Al was preceded in death by his parents Elburn and Jennie, also four sisters and their husbands; Florence Rochelle and Yerby, Billie Bessire and Harlin, Martha Lowry and Lawrence, Helen Herron and Wayne, and brother-in-law, Bill Lindsey.
Al served in the National Guard, was a member of Local 211 Pipefitters and several Machinist Locals. He retired from Monsanto/Sterling and his part-time gun repair shop, Baker’s Gun Repair, became a full-time business he enjoyed. Through his business he met, built guns and hunted with a variety of interesting people and we loved to hear the stories, which may or may not have been embellished.
His love of the outdoors led him on many fishing and hunting adventures. One of which was a lifelong dream to hunt a brown bear in Alaska and just like everything he set his mind to he was successful.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2023 with a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
