Margie Cook, “aka” Grandma, 90, passed away September 29, 2018 in Texas City into the waiting arms of her husband, Jim Cook Sr.

She was born on November 6, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas to Frank Meuth and Margaret Stall. She married her love, James in 1948 and moved to Texas City in 1956 where together they built and ran their business, J.L. Cook and Sons. She was the sole call center, accounting department and human resources (as needed). After Jim died, she along with her sons became the backbone of the business. She was a member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City where she served as a member of the altar society for many years.

Rosary will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet. Visitation will be October 4, 2018 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.

Grandma was an avid traveler, Astros lover, had a passion for reading, cooking, taking pictures and working the newspaper puzzles. She was a devout Catholic, loved playing cards with all of her girlfriends and was everyone’s Grandma. A granddaughter’s friend just recently said, “Grandma’s house was one you could walk in without knocking.” Everyone was welcome in Grandma’s house.

Most importantly she loved her family, her kids, grandkids and her great grandkids. Her family traditions of Easter at the lake, Sunday family gatherings, huge Thanksgiving dinners and a house as bright as the Nutcracker during the Christmas holidays will continue unchanged because of her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Cook, her parents, her siblings Ervin, Joyce, Jerry, Irene and Evelyn.

She is survived by her sons, James L Cook, Jr and Larry Cook and his wife, Freda Cook; granddaughters, Debra Taylor and her husband, Brian, Jennifer Herm and her husband, Anthony, Laura Cook, Ann Graber and her husband Nathan; grandsons, Patrick Cook and James Cook; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Herm, Zachary Taylor, Kylie Herm, Seth Taylor, Ethan Herm, Jaxon Graber and Devon Solari; siblings, James Meuth and Bernice Wiatrek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other close family friends, too many to name.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Herm, Brian Taylor, Patrick Cook, James Cook, Nathan Graber and Zachary Taylor.
