I served in the Coast Guard.

John J. Fraser, Sr., 93, passed from this life at home on Saturday, May 4, 2019, surrounded by his family.

Another member of the greatest generation, John proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Navy Reserve. John was stationed at the Coast Guard Base in Galveston when he met the love of his life, Dorothy, who preceded him in death. They were married for 56 years and had seven children. His military service was followed by a successful career as a foreman at Amoco Refinery in Texas City, retiring after 35 years of employment. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

He was also preceded in death by son Jens, daughter Gloria, and grandchild Bryan. John leaves to cherish his memory his son John Jr., and daughters, Mary Anne, Brenda, Linda, and Helene; sister Dorothy; sons and daughter-in-law, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

In his honor, a visitation will be held from 10:00 - 12:00 p.m., with a mass at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society in care of St. Mary's of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Texas City.
